Cortesanon.com Assists IKA School Publication PDF Print E-mail

CORTESANON.COM would be the midwife, assisting 40 year old Infant King Academy (IKA) deliver her first baby soon: a regular campus publication.

Aborted last year when the project to come up with a school organ only had its launching before it died a natural death, this year, school administrators prepare the student writers through a write-shop last October 5.

School paper adviser Jairus Fuderanan said IKA envisions the maiden issue of the paper to come out from its wombs November 5, barely a month from now.

Cortesanon.com also said that the timetable is not impossible for the student writers to cope as the magazine type paper would be having a little less than a month to prepare.

Almost 20 students including the organ adviser sat down for a whole day gruelling work in news writing, copy-editing and feature writing at the IKA computer room.

IF plans do not miscarry, Cortesanons would have a brief preview of the dance drama fully performed by amateur drama artists from its riverside barangays.

Set for a minor launch this October 17 and a repeat performance for October 21, the dance drama entitled Wadje sa Abatan (sa mga Panghitabo) would showcase debuting local artists.

Early this year, National Commission for Culture and the Arts Drama Committee Chair and Boholano multi-awarded artist Lutgardo Labad was tasked to study the possibility of a cultural show complementing Abatan Community Tours.

With a trigger fund from the government through House Committee on Tourism Chair Edgar Chatto and PROCESS Bohol’s interest in complementing the community tours, executive director Emilia Roslinda initiated the first coordination meetings to realize the project.

THERE is a need to come up with an advisory and consultative team drafting the restoration or any development plans to be implemented for the heritage church in Cortes.

This as developments in Bohol’s treading into the unknown waters of cultural heritage has opened a window of opportunity for well meaning citizens to take a second look at their surviving heritage structure.

The resurgence of interest in restoring and conserving the Church by some Cortesanons who desire to pitch in small donations for the restoration and conservation has prodded the need for the group absent any other formal group in place.

Several people in Cortes have slowly learned the value of the centuries old church here, one that took their forefathers countless years to build.
