WHO KILLED MAGELLAN?
(A quick glance at Philippine history with a twist)
One of my favorite subjects as a kid was history; Philippine history, in particular. Believe it or not, I find it more entertaining than educational. I even still remember the textbook that we used in the elementary years which was reddish brown in color, medium sized, authored by Gregorio Zaide titled “A Brief History of the Philippines”. It was then widely used as a textbook all throughout the country that it could have been regarded as the “Book of Genesis” of our country’s history.

But one such story resurfaced about more than five hundred years later with pilgrim St. Antoninus of Piancenza (A.D. 570). He toured the holy places of Jerusalem and said he saw in the basilica of Mount Sion "the crown of thorns with which Our Lord was crowned and the lance with which struck His side".
